If you are looking to hire Crystal Lake DJs then check out this wedding Ameritune’s Al Mitchell played recently at D’Andreas Banquets and Conference Center in Crystal Lake, Illinois. It was a great time and the Bride and Groom, Sara and James Lynch couldn’t have been nicer and easier to work for.
Sara and James Lynch “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis
These two wanted to have LOTS of fun, so they chose one of our interactive options for kissing during dinner. We call it the name in the hat. I filled a bread basket with little pieces of paper that had the names of all the best kissers attending the reception. I set this basket at the head table and provided a wireless microphone for the Sara and James. When the guests wanted to see them kiss, they would clink their glasses. James and Sara would then pull a name out of the hat, and whomevers name they picked had to come up to the head table and demonstrate their best kiss. Then, James and Sara would duplicate the kiss. While this was going on, I was playing kissing music. It’s a great icebreaker.
James sings and plays guitar in the band American English, so there was a musical motif on the cake. The cake cutting song was “Happy Together” by the Turtles. As you can imagine, they requested (and I played) a lot of Beatles and oldies from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s music. I played some new stuff too, and they danced all night!
Dad Daughter Dance
Sometime earlier in the evening, James wanted to sing “Wonderful Tonight” to Sara. His dad played and sang along and they were awesome together. The crowd wouldn’t let them stop at just one song, they demanded an encore! I was very impressed with the two of them.

Looking at this picture below, you can see these folks loved to dance. I think nearly all of the 111 people stayed and danced till the end of the night.
Busy Dancefloor All Night
Good luck and best wishes to James and Sara Lynch, they make a beautiful couple!

DJ Al Mitchells set up
If you are planning an Elgin, IL Wedding check out this awesome wedding that Ameritune DJs and Video recently played at The Haight in Elgin, IL.
Jess and Andy Tie the Knot
On September 19, 2015 Jessica Fester married Andy Adamczyk. Ameritune DJs, Al Mitchell was the DJ/MC, the wedding officiant was their caterer Jeff, owner of In the Neighborhood Deli on the west side of Elgin. Thats a first for me. He was a good officiant adding some quit witty comments and a personal touch. He was an even better caterer. As a matter of fact, I worked with him the next day at my sisters outside wedding, and the food was great then too. Twighlight zone stuff here. I’ve never worked with him before, then its two days in a row.
Anyway, the ceremony was held in the main room on the second floor. Of course, the kiddies stole the show.
…rockin the processional
The ceremony musicians were friends of the Bride and Groom and they did a nice job for the processional and recessional, I played the prelude music, and provided the mics.
Cocktails downstairs at The Haight
After the beautiful ceremony, everyone went downstairs for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and the staff at the Haight reset the upstairs room for dinner. I supplied a separate sound system for cocktail music.

Live Dinner Music
After the cocktail hour, everyone went back upstairs for dinner. One of the reasons they picked me to be their Elgin DJ is that they liked my live dinner music on Keyboard and Flugelhorn. No extra charge, of course.
The group was large so dinner took a while, but the caterer surprised me with a unique presentation of the meat course. He called it “Thorns of Fire” and asked me to play some fire themed music. I chose Fireball by Pitbull.
Thorns of Fire
I knew this was going to be a fun party, there was such a great vibe going in the room- it was a younger group and they were drinking pretty heavily. That’s a great scenario for a DJ. By the way, this was not an easy party to work, and the staff at The Haight was right on top of everything. First class all the way. I said hello and took a couple of pics with a couple whose wedding I did 12 years ago. They had recommended me to their friends, the Bride and Groom. They had a fun wedding too, I still remember some crazy things that happened that night……
Jess and Adam 1st dance
Jess asked me to play the Chicken Dance in memory of her Grandparents
A lot of people put the Chicken Dance on their “don’t play” list, so I don’t often play it, but it always loosens the crowd and breaks the ice. In short, its good for your party. That being said, I think I’ve played it only 3 or 4 times this year. My music policy is- when you are the bride and groom, you are the boss in what gets played and what doesn’t. After all, I’m working for you, right?
Early in the party, some guests told me they had a surprise gift for the Bride and Groom. They wanted me to make them open this gift during dancing. Warning bells went off in my head, but I did it anyway, and I’m glad.
Its kind of hard to tell what that is, but if you look close you’ll see that its 2 skis with shot glasses glued to them. I played the song “Shots” and they filled them up and did them right on the dancefloor, 1 ski at a time. That was cool and got the party into the next gear. This ended up being another great wedding, the dancefloor was packed all night and they didn’t want to let me stop playing!
Best of luck to the new Mr. and Mrs. Adamczyk!

If you are looking for Crystal Lake DJs then check out this wedding Ameritune played for at D’Andrea Banquets and Conference Center in September, 2015. The fun started during cocktail hour when I showed the photo montage that Christine had made. Christine and Kent were taking their pictures and didn’t get to see it but several people commented that it was awesome to watch.
Intros were at 7pm and Kent and Christine had asked me to work the Muppets Opening Song into their Bridal Party intros. I had no idea what they were talking about so I went to Youtube and did some searching. I found what they wanted and blended it with the song “Happy”. I heard a lot of laughs out there when I started the intros and it was a cute way to begin the festivities.
After a wonderful dinner at D’Andrea, where the food is always excellent, it was time for the dancing to begin. Christine and Kent had more surprises for their guests. They asked me to put together a mix of different songs for a special choreographed Super 1st Dance. The songs I used were Everything, I’m a Believer, I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight, Let’s Get It On, What Is Love, Now That We’ve Got Love and the mix finished up with Everything by Michael Buble. It was a smashing success! Christine and Kent must have practiced a lot because Kent claims to not be a dancer, but they looked very polished, and the crowd loved it! I haven’t had the change to review the footage from our Videographer, Tadas but I did take a few pictures on my phone-
Kent and Christine Schewe
That’s how they started
End of Dance
Its really a no lose situation when you do a choreographed 1st dance. People like it when you are good, but they Love it when you’re not so good. That seems strange but I have seen it over and over. They can see that you are into it and are trying hard and that you have practiced, and you have “steps”. Its one of those “aaawww” moments that shows how commited you are to making it happen.
